Day 5-Grace Darling Museum and our long journey home.

The wake up call came a little earlier today; lots to do before our long journey home. Those of us who were organised last night came down to breakfast early, our cases ready to go. We savoured our last cooked breakfast, then went back up to our rooms for the big tidy up - yes mums and dads we can keep our rooms tidy! We said our goodbyes to our home of the last week and set off to see Grace Darling's memorial in St Aidan's Churchyard and then moved on to the RNLI museum where we saw the actual boat that Grace used in her epic rescue all those years ago.
Too soon it was time to leave Bamburgh to we begin our homeward journey. Arriving at Gateshead to eat our lunch, we had an extra surprise! Not only did we see the beautiful Sage building and take a walk across the bouncy Millennium bridge but we ate our lunch watching the Great Northern Games. As the Great North Run takes place in Newcastle this weekend, there is an athletics competition taking place between England and Australia and we had the privilege of watching the pole vault event on the banks of the River Tyne.  As we left England were in the lead! You might see us on tv tomorrow!
We have had an amazing time in Northumberland and though we want to come home to see you all now, it would be nice to do it again soon!

  1. Wow, now when I look back it was a long journey home! I really enjoyed being at Northumberland though, because there is a lot to learn and it is very fun. I definatley reccommend it to y5 and other HJS students, as it was, and always will be, a week to remember. xx
