Day 4

We were very sleepy this morning after our travels of yesterday and really did not want to get up! After a hearty breakfast however, we were ready to face the day. Bamburgh Castle was our first stop. Our tour guide greeted us with a welcoming smile and then went on to tell us spooky tales of ghosts and gore. Mrs Fearnley told us how Mrs Lindsay met Lady Armstrong, the mother of the present owner of the castle, on a previous visit. The dungeons were creepy but we all managed to get out in one piece.  The sun was shining on us again so we walked around the ramparts to the village green and ate our lunch al fresco before having a good old fashioned run around.
Next stop: St Aidan's Church. Here we looked at the features of a traditional church, discovered Grace Darling's original memorial stone and found a pink pig in a stained glass window!
Beautiful Bamburgh  beach was calling us and we were keen to start building our sandcastles. Whose would be the best? The teachers found it very difficult to choose a winner so our IT Technician, Mr Williams, drew the short straw. If you look at the photographs you will see just how hard it was.
