Day 3

Highlight of the week so far - Billy Shiel's boat trip! From the quaint Seahouses Harbour we started our journey towards Inner Farne. Donning our life jackets we rode the white horses on our blue roller coaster named 'Glad Tidings III'. It was wicked, although not everybody thought so !!! (Mrs. Forshaw struggled to find her sea legs.)
Touring the islands, we saw shimmering green shags, golden headed gannets and young herring gulls. Lazing around on the rocks and bobbing about in the water were fat, blubbery seals with cute dog-like faces - ahh.
Next the towering red and white Longstone Lighthouse came into view intermittently flashing its powerful beam across the choppy waters towards us. Finally we disembarked on Inner Farne where the National Trust wardens were waiting to tell us all about their work with the wild life of the Northumbrian coast.
After a short uneventful ride we arrived back at Seahouses Harbour where we eagerly uwrapped our tasty sandwiches as we were all famished. We then spent the next hour in the gift shop but we can't tell you what we bought!!
Later on we played games on the green in the shadow of the impressive fortress of Bamburgh Castle. To complete our third day we spent the remainder of the afternoon exploring the rockpools on the beach.
